My kids would probably say that I’m an overexplainer. Sometimes I think they are right. There’s something about teaching my children a new skill or job that causes me to overexplain. I can see it on their faces when they are done with explanation and ready to try for themselves.

As bad as I am at keeping explanations short, I’m worse at receiving instruction. I’m ready to try something out after about 25 percent of the teaching. There’s a reason I believe patience is a fruit of the Spirit and not a natural human characteristic. It’s not easy.

So, enough of the explaining already. It’s time. Time to move beyond principles to practice. Time to get our hands dirty. Time to quit talking and act.
